Read: (Sunday) Genesis 2:18-24; Psalm 8; Hebrews 2:1-8; Hebrews 2:9-18; Mark 10:2-16
Readings for the rest of the week*: Exodus 16; Deuteronomy 8; Psalm 3; Psalm 127; Mark 1:29-39; Mark 8:1-21
Pray: Book of Common Prayer, Collect for the Nineteenth Week After Pentecost
Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in continual godliness, that through your protection it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly serve you in good works, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Do: For the final seven weeks of Ordinary Time, we’ll consider God’s gifts of work and rest - both spiritual acts of worship.
Bobby Gross introduces this week’s chapter: “As creatures, we are made to need daily bread and nightly sleep. Indeed, Jesus teaches us to ask the Father for our daily needs. For our part, of course, we must actually turn in at a reasonable hour and sit down for healthy meals. We look to God not only for daily sustenance for our bodies and minds but also for food and rest for our souls, as this week’s passages remind us.”
Find a comfortable position, and take some deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, letting the movement of air through your lungs draw your attention to parts of your body carrying tension. Gently move your body into a more comfortable position and thank God for giving you breathe for your lungs and bread for each day.

*During Ordinary Time this year, I’ll be sharing readings from the excellent devotional guide, Living the Christain Year: Time to Inhabit the Story of God by Bobby Gross. While it’s not necessary to purchase the book to follow along with us, it’s an excellent resource we’ve dog-eared so often the pages are falling out of our copy!
