Murphys Take Austin: Day 1

This sign from our living room was the last item we packed before leaving town.

My friend Margaret requested the family collaborate on some travel-blog type posts for our big move to Austin.  Everyone in the family thinks this is a marvelous idea, but so far I'm the only one willing to take the time to write anything.  Also, when I asked them to help me come up with a clever title for this thread of posts the only options they could come up with were wildly inappropriate.  So, I'm setting out on my own, hoping to get a little bit more help along the way.

Truth be told, I'm still not quite ready to say many words about this major change in our lives.  Sometimes I wonder if, like Mary, the deepest, truest words for these past days will be pondered only between me and the Almighty.  Who knows?  In the meantime, I hope you'll accept a photo diary instead?

Not good enough?  How about some music to listen to while you look.  Better?

Good. Here we go:

Friday, August 5
House is packed up and ready for the movers to take everything on Monday.
Final walk through house.  They were completely punchy by this point and
 not quite as reverent as this picture might look.  We figured, though,
 that our first day in the house started with a prayer circle in this very same spot;
prayers for this neighborhood do not end with our departure.

Stopped by Grandma Meacham's house for good-bye hugs.
Park Diner for last lunch in town!

I'll put the Friday night pictures with Saturday and Sunday in the next post.
We'll be back soon!
